Photographed onMarch 13th from Caledon, Ontario, Canada,a bright Moon was surrounded by this lovely halo.Planet Jupiter and stars Procyon, Castor, and Polluxalso appear within the circle of lunar light Castorand Pollux, twins in Greek Mythology, are appropriatelybright stars of the constellatio Geminiwhile Procyon is the brightest star i Canis Minor.The circular halo is produced b six-sided ice crystalsin thin high-altitude clouds, which refract the moonlightand give the halo a characteristic radius of 22 degrees.For persistent skygazer suchapparitions are relativelyeasy to see when the Moon an Sunilluminate planet Earth's skies.
